The new season of the Pro League, Belgium's top football league, got underway this weekend, with fixtures for the two Brussels teams: Union Saint-Gilloise (who played Sint-Truiden) and Anderlecht (against Oostende).
Sunday evening marked the first league encounter for Union Saint-Gilloise since their miraculous last season, in which the team finished second overall in the league after being defeated by eventual champions Club Brugge.
Things will be different for the club this season, with both players and staff leaving over the summer. Playing against Flemish side Sint-Truiden, this was head coach Karel Geraerts' first league match since replacing Felice Mazzù.

Union fell behind in the 21st minute but equalised with a stunning goal by Simon Adingra (on loan from Brighton), 50 minutes later.
The team is now preparing for their upcoming Champions League match against Scottish side Rangers.
An ambitious Anderlecht
After the spectacular last season with Union, coach Felice Mazzù has moved to Anderlecht and was pleased to get the season off to a strong start with a 2-0 win against Oostende this Sunday.
Mazzù departed Union in controversial fashion to join local rivals Anderlecht and replace outgoing head coach Vincent Kompany, a Belgian football icon.
Mazzù has a big task ahead of him as Anderlecht expects him to deliver a better finish than last season's third place.
The 28 August will see the two rival Brussels teams face each other in the derby clash – a fixture that never fails to thrill.
