A wildfire broke out on 10 August at around 13:00 near the La Gileppe dam, firefighters from the rescue zone 4, Vesdre- Hoëgne & Plateau, have announced.
According to the first responders, around 1.5 kilometres squared of vegetation was destroyed by the flames. Around 20 firefighters were called to the area to tackle the black, tying up two water tanks, two fire trucks, and a firefighter officer.
German-speaking fighters were also redirected to the area, but ultimately did not participate in the emergency operation.

According to the first responders, the source of the fire was traced to a barbeque. The firefighters reminded locals that, due to the hot weather and severe drought in Wallonia, fires and barbecues are currently prohibited in and around wooded areas.
