Police arrested a 34 year-old man on Monday evening as part of the investigation into the death of a 46 year-old male on De Coninckplein in Antwerp earlier in the day, the Antwerp Public Prosecutor's Office confirmed to Belga News Agency.
On Monday evening, police received reports of shots being fired on Bredastraat, in the northern part of the city. About ten minutes later, a bloodied man collapsed on De Coninckplein, after getting out of his car.
Emergency services were called to the scene and attempted to resuscitate the victim but to no avail, with the 46 year-old dying of his wounds.

Since the incident, police have been able to identify and arrest a suspect in the murder case, with the Public Prosecutor's Office stating that his involvement is currently being investigated.
This shooting is the latest in a string of violent incidents in Antwerp, which the city's mayor, Bart De Wever, blames on inaction from federal authorities.
