A motorcyclist was badly injured after a traffic accident on the A12 from Antwerp to Brussels, which has led a long traffic jam on the motorway.
At around 07:20, the motorbike collided with a car near the Flemish town of Breendonk on the A12 motorway.
The Federal Police confirmed that the motorcyclist was taken to hospital after suffering serious injuries that put him in a critical condition.

The A12 was subsequently closed in the direction of Brussels, before one of the three lanes could be reopened.
However, the morning rush hour is still very difficult to navigate, with the Rupel tunnel experiencing 45 minutes of queue, and 30 minutes queue on the N16.
As a result, the Flemish Traffic Centre has recommended motorists take a longer detour via the E19.
