A warning regarding the activities of five new companies that offer fraudulent asset management services has been issued by the Belgian Financial Services and Markets Authority (FSMA).

The five companies are ab-investment-acces.net, besttradingspecialists.com, gestioneuropecapital.com, javius.com and lj-invest.net. Employees of these companies call people to ask them to manage their assets.

People who entrust their money to these companies risk never seeing it again, FSMA stressed.

The calls sometimes take place after people on social networking sites show an interest in advertisements for high-interest rates, however, sometimes they also target people who have never shown interest in this type of investing.

Too good to be true

During the conversation, a return higher than is achievable on the market is offered, usually also with a capital guarantee.  “However, those offers are too good to be true. Be careful, because if you trust those scammers, you will never see your money back,” FSMA warns.

People are also invited to visit the company’s website and open a personal account there. Sometimes a contract is proposed. All further contacts are made via e-mail, telephone, SMS or WhatsApp.
