The Rogier metro station in central Brussels is being revamped with a new mural, and Brussels Mobility and public transport company STIB are inviting Brussels residents and commuters to choose their favourite work from a range of artistic art proposals for the site. Voting is on until 4 September.

Several tunnel entrances on public transport, including stations between Lemonnier and Brussels South, Avenue de la Liberté to Avenue de Jette, Simonis Meter to Arts-Loi to Mesier, have recently been embellished. A few months ago, Brussels Mobility, the City of Brussels and STIB asked various artists to consider a new project.

The project at Rogier metro station concerns the ceiling above the escalator that leads to the metro station, on the corner of Boulevard du Jardin Botanique and Rue Neuve, in front of the City 2 shopping centre.

The project received 22 applications for artworks, with five projects now shortlisted and submitted to the public for a vote.

Brussels Minister of Mobility and Public Works Elke van den Brandt was enthusiastic: "They are all beautiful projects by these artists to make our city even more beautiful, lively and colourful. The public space is much more than a place where you just walk by, and these murals make them more inviting."
