An oil tanker partially sank near the port of Gibraltar on Monday evening after colliding with a ship carrying liquefied natural gas (LNG). Its bow now rests on the seabed at a depth of 17 meters.
Twenty four people are on board the tanker and not in a life-threatening condition, according to a statement from the captain to authorities. Rescuers are on site to evacuate sailors if necessary.
The ship was carrying 183 tons of heavy fuel oil, 250 tons of diesel and 27 tons of lubricating oil. Once day breaks, a team of divers from the port of Gibraltar will go to check the damage suffered by the ship.
