On Sunday night, a 37-year-old motorcyclist was killed after colliding with a truck in the Flemish municipality of Beervelde. The traffic caused by the collision then led to another accident.
The accident occurred at 01:00 on the E17 towards Ghent, when the motorcyclist collided with the rear of a truck and was then hit by another car after being thrown from his bike. The rider did not survive the accident.
Following the initial collision, a lorry crashed into the car in front in the traffic bottleneck, seriously injuring the truck driver.

The East Flanders Public Prosecutor’s Office is investigating the circumstances of both accidents.
Given that this is the second fatal traffic accident to occur in Flanders on Sunday, it adds weight to a recent report that the number of badly-injured traffic accident victims is larger than previously assumed.
