Seven years after launching its successful list and app of 1,000 best restaurants in the world, La Liste is launching an app which lists the 600 best pastry chefs in nearly 60 countries, a first “world guide” of the masters of baked goods “who lead the way in gastronomy”.
La Liste, known for its ranking of the 1,000 best restaurants in the world and its app which integrates nearly 30,000 restaurants, will now geolocate pastry shops, tea rooms, bakeries and coffee shops.
“It’s a first, no one had made a world pastry guide,” General Manager of La Liste Hélène Pietrini told AFP.
According to her, pastry is currently a trend with “many pastry chefs are leading the way in gastronomy at the moment” in the areas of relations with their producers, seasonality or economic and social responsibility.
The fact that pastry is an accessible pleasure plays in favour of this craze, says Joerg Zipprick, Co-Founder and Editor-in-Chief of La Liste when speaking to AFP, adding that “pastry is the most important trend” among those that he observes for La Liste.
“Inflation in gastronomy is enormous. When I was young, I spent the equivalent of €25 to €60 in the biggest restaurants in France and Europe."
The first year, there will be no ranking of the best pastry chefs, but La Liste will reassess the situation next year, once the geographical coverage has been consolidated.
