The City of Brussels and the municipality of Dilbeek will be honouring the Belgian cyclist Remco Evenepoel, as he comes back from his recent crowning as road cycling World Champion.
Evenepoel went two for two this year by winning both La Vuelta a España (one of three grand tours, cycling's most prestigious races) and the UCI Road World Championships in Australia.
After facing major injuries and considerable media criticism in his short time as a professional cyclist, the Belgian will now return to his home country a hero in his hometown of Dilbeek, as well as in Brussels.

On Sunday 2 October at 12:00, a reception will be held at the Westrand Cultural Centre in Dilbeek which recently gave the young rider the title of honorary citizen.
After the ceremony, Evenepoel will address supporters before travelling to Brussels, by bicycle: "Remco Evenepoel kept us in suspense during La Vuelta and the World Championships," remarked Philippe Close, the mayor of Brussels.
"Belgians are keen to pay him tribute and are waiting excitedly for his return."
Expected to arrive in Brussels at 15:30, Evenepoel will be brought up to the balcony of Brussels' town hall, just as the Red Devils were after the World Cup in 2018, to take in the crowds at the Grand Place.
