Three defendants facing drug charges as a result of Operation Sky ECC are summoning Federal Justice Minister Vincent Van Quickenborne (Open VLD) to court.
In 2021, the Sky ECC messaging service, frequently used by criminals, was cracked, which led to the seizure of €4.5 billion worth of drugs and the rounding up of 888 suspects.
However, three of the suspects currently standing trial due to the operation want Vincent Van Quickenborne to appear in court as a representative of the Belgian State.

The reason stated by the suspects' lawyers is that hundreds of arrests made since then have been removed from the so-called master file.
They feel that the mother file should be reviewed in its entirety, as the lawyers "to be able to test the legality of Sky ECC and find out who cracked it," according to Frank Scheerlinck.
But the Public Prosecutor's Office has refused to allow this, to which Scheerlink deplored "we live under the state of law ! We need to be able to see what method and procedure has been followed."
