An eye-catching new store has recently opened in Antwerp: a waffle house which serves traditional gaufres in the shape of a penis or vagina.
With their waffles in the shape of a penis or vagina, the founder of 'Zizi Boutique' Maarten Bovée wanted his business to strike a positive note at their location in a side street of the Meir in Antwerp.
"So far, I have seen only enthusiasm and a lot of smiling faces," says Maarten Bovée, reflecting on the first few days of business.
"Actually, we're just a shop that sells waffles," Bovée explains, "only they're in the shape of a penis or vagina, which we also decorate with chocolate and glitter."

Bovée had already seen the idea on Instagram, but only became convinced of it during a holiday in Paris. "There was also such a store there and we only saw people having a lot of fun there."
According to Bovée, more and more countries and cities are launching such stores. "We shouldn't always take ourselves too seriously. It's not about the shape of the waffle, it's mainly a way to do something playful in this difficult time."
Although Bovée does not focus on children, there is also a waffle for them, albeit in the form of a butterfly.
"A lot of people have already visited since we opened," says Bovée. "Everyone was happy and laughing and enjoying the products - and that's what we do it for," he added.
He is already looking to the future, as "our ambition to open a store in different cities and to focus on places where there are many tourists and students."
