Hidden Belgium: Jardin Botanique Jean Massart

For more than a century, the Jean Massart botanical garden in Brussels was almost unknown. Founded by the botanist Jean Massart in 1922, this secluded garden near Herrmann-Debroux metro station mainly served to educate university students about plants and trees.

But this tiny green space on the edge of the city has been lovingly restored, and is now open to the public. You can now admire the collection of rare plants, enter the greenhouses and sit out under the trees with a book.
