Anderlecht has been given a €50,000 fine following incidents at West Ham in the Conference League, European soccer body UEFA said on Friday. The club will also have to play one actual away match without spectators in European competitions plus a suspended one,
During Anderlecht’s 1-2 defeat at West Ham on 13 October, its fans made headlines for the wrong reason by lobbing objects onto the pitch. Smoke bombs and seats were also thrown at West Ham fans.
The Brussels club has been fined €50,000 by UEFA and will not be able to sell tickets to its supporters for its next two European away games.
Anderlecht is currently in third place in Group B of the Conference League with four points, two behind Silkeborg. The Brussels team hosts Steaua Bucharest on Thursday at 18:45 Hrs. before traveling to Silkeborg, without its fans, for a game on Thursday, 13 November, at 21:00 Hrs.
