Due to the energy crisis, the federal government has decided to extend the deadlines for all tax payments for the 2022 fiscal year, the Federal Finance Department announced on Friday.
The extension covers individual and corporate taxes, as well as taxes payable by non-residents and legal entities.
The standard payment period has been extended from two to four months for assessment notices for the 2022 tax year with an enforceable date up to 31 October 2023.
In this way, the government says, it aims to support citizens and companies “in these difficult times” due to the energy crisis.
In concrete terms, on assessment notices for personal income tax and non-resident tax (fiscal year 2022) sent from 14 November onwards, the adapted payment date will already be included in the blue box and will therefore take into account the extended payment period granted.
Assessment notices of personal income tax and non-resident tax sent before 14 November will still indicate the usual payment date - calculated on the basis of a two-month payment period. Two months must therefore be added to that date.
No further action is required to benefit from the extended payment deadline.
