Antwerp kicked off November Book Month this weekend with an opening festival at the city's Zuid district.
The new book festival highlights different authors and books for a month. “November Book Month will become an annual recurring event,” alderman for culture, Nabilla Ait Daoud, said. “The city has set up a collaboration between publishers, bookshops and literary organisations.”
November Book Month consists of numerous events and activities in libraries and bookshops. These include author meetings, signing sessions, read-alouds, workshops and exhibitions.
Panel discussions on literature and current affairs will be organised with, among others, Tom Lanoye, Stefan Hertmans, Bart Moeyaert, Jeroen Olyslaegers, Aya Sabi, Tülin Erkan, Wim Opbrouck, Angelo Tijssens, Koen Broucke, Stijn Vranken, Wided Bouchrika, Britt Truyts, Annelies Verbeke, Chinouk Thijssen and Jeroen Meus.
