Tour operator TUI has chartered two planes for travellers stranded in Cuba and Mexico, spokesman Piet Demeyere said on Tuesday evening.
About 250 holidaymakers have been stranded since Sunday in the Mexican resort of Cancun due to a technical problem with their plane. They have been waiting for a flight to Brussels, while Belgian tourists on their way to Mexico are stranded in Varadero, Cuba.
“A plane with spare parts and an engineer has now landed at Varadero airport," Demeyere said. "An additional plane has also been sent from Spain to Cuba to take the tourists to their destination in Mexico,” the TUI spokesman added.
