Thalys, operator of the high-speed line between Paris, Brussels and Amsterdam, will cancel a number of trains over the next few days, the company says on its website.
A total of about 20 trains will be scrapped on Friday, Sunday and Monday as a result of equipment problems. Due to unexpected maintenance, Thalys explained, it does not have enough trains to guarantee the full schedule. Affected passengers can rebook for free or get a refund, the company said.
Some 90% of scheduled trains will, in fact, be running, according to Thalys, which added that high-speed trains would run as scheduled on Wednesday, a national day of action organised by Belgium's unions.
However, passengers should expect disruptions on other public transport on Wednesday.
