The famous Grand Place, one of the jewels of the Brussels tourist industry, has been named sixth in the travel site Big 7 Travel's ranking of the most popular attractions in Europe.
The ranking was compiled from user ratings on platforms such as Google reviews and Tripadvisor, as well as Tik Tok views and popular hashtags on Instagram, and was published by the travel site in partnership with car rental comparator Holiday Cars.
The number one attraction is the Eiffel Tower in Paris, followed by Big Ben in London and La Sagrada Familia in Barcelona. The Colosseum in Rome is placed fourth with Lake Geneva in fifth. The Grand Place of Brussels sits in sixth ahead of the Palace of Versailles, the Alhambra in Granada, Spain, the Musée du Louvre in Paris and Windsor Castle in London.

There are some surprises outside the top ten. Namely, the unusually low ratings of emblematic tourist sites such as the Acropolis, the Vatican and the Blue Lagoon spa in Iceland. This is in contradiction to high ratings on other tourist sites.
The deep blue waters of the Icelandic spa continue to seduce visitors and it still get 4.5/5 on Tripadvisor. However, as the Big 7 rating is gathered from several sources, the Blue Lagoon’s relative inaccessibility quoted by some reviewers on other sites pushes it down to 19th position.
