Local police in Limburg Province’s Carma zone discovered the remains of a synthetic drug laboratory in the town of Bocholt on Thursday evening, a judicial source said on Friday.
The law enforcers found about 10 drums containing a chemical substance derived from the manufacture of drugs, and several bags of laboratory equipment, abandoned in the Kanonweg in Bocholt, a municipality located near the Dutch border, according to the Hasselt public prosecutor’s office.
Police from the Carma area (Genk, As, Oudsbergen, Zutendaal, Houthalen-Helchteren, Bree, Bocholt, Kinrooi) made the discovery based on tips about the presence of the barrels.
The North Limburg fire brigade intervened, as did the Civil Protection Service, which removed the drums and bags.
