The city of Mechelen is handing out vouchers worth €100 to the first 900 tourists who book at least two nights in any of the city's hotels this winter.
The vouchers can be used for shopping, dining out, and attending various cultural events in the city. They will be valid for stays between 1 December 2022 and 31 January 2023, and will even be made available to Mechelen's own inhabitants.
"Everyone is welcome, even 'Mechelers' who go to a hotel are entitled to the voucher," Mechelen Councillor for Tourism Björn Sifer told Radio 2 in Antwerp.

Sifer added: "The vouchers are a means of relaunching the tourism sector in our city, which is the last to get going again after the Covid-19 pandemic. The hotel industry is always the last to recover. In this way, we want to give them a push."
