KU Leuven and Ghent University have been included in the Times Higher Education World Reputation 2022 ranking of the most prestigious universities, judged by academics.
The Leuven institution is placed between 51st and 60th, and its Ghent counterpart between 101st and 125th in the Times’ rankings, unveiled on Wednesday.
At the top of the table, US universities Harvard (for the 12th consecutive year) and Massachusetts Institute of Technology retain their number one and number two positions respectively.
Stanford University took the number three slot, pushing Britain’s Oxford University into fourth place.
For the first time, two Asian institutions are included in the top 10. China’s Tsinghua University is ranked 9th, and Tokyo University (Japan) 10th.
China has a total of nine universities in the top 100.
