An international survey on the effects of the energy crisis was carried out by the ING Group. The findings reveal that nearly 9 in 10 Belgians are taking significant steps to reduce their energy consumption.
In early November 2022, the ING Group surveyed 1,000 Belgians as part of an international poll conducted not only in Belgium, but also in the Netherlands, Germany, Romania, Poland, Turkey, and Spain, to assess households' habits as a result of Europe's energy crisis.
The bank's findings showed that Belgians have drastically lowered their consumption since March of this year, with 57% of respondents claiming to have saved on everyday expenses and 60% vowing to continue doing so in the next six months.
In addition, 60% intend on saving on everyday expenses in the next six months, which the bank feels may result in decreased sales during this year's Black Friday.
