A fierce fire broke out in a chicken run in Peer, Limburg Province, on Wednesday evening, killing some 9,600 chickens.
The North Limburg Emergency Zone's fire department received the fire alert shortly before 7 p.m. and a BE-Alert warning was sent out to local residents, who were advised to keep doors and windows locked.
Asbestos was released in the blaze, but it was limited to the area of the fire itself. There were no injuries.
Local police announced around 8:15 p.m. that the fire, which was located along the Kiezel Kleine-Brogel (N748), was under control. The fire was extinguished at around 9.15 p.m., according to city authorities, and area residents were allowed to reopen their windows and doors.
