On Tuesday, police unions VSOA/SLFP, NSPV/SNPS, ACV/CSC and ACOD/FGTB took to the streets in Brussels to demonstrate against the Federal Government's 'lack of respect' over a pay dispute. As a result, motorists should expect traffic disruptions in the areas surrounding Arts-Lois and Gare Central, from 07:00 onwards.
Police unions are taking action on Tuesday morning in the capital to protest what they perceive to be a 'lack of respect' by the Federal Government, particularly over its failure to implement the previously agreed salary raise.
This follows from the unions' decision to stop issuing traffic fines for the same reason, as well as prior protests which saw officers take to the streets in November. As a result, up to 400 officers will be "making our voices heard again" on Tuesday, according to Carlo Medo, president of the national union of police and security personnel.
From 07:00 onwards, they will be demonstrating in the centre of Brussels and "we will continue to do so in the days and weeks to come,” Medo added, explaining that "basically, the police are being taken for a ride."
However, this will result in traffic disruptions in the city centre with police advising motorists to avoid the area surrounding Central Station, Rue de la Loi, the Arts-Loi crossroads and the R20.
