Formula 1 driver Max Verstappen and ice skater Irene Schouten were voted Athletes of the Year at the Dutch Sports Gala on Wednesday.
Verstappen (25), a native of Hasselt, Limburg, won his second consecutive Formula One world title in 2022 by winning a record 15 out of 22 races.
The Belgian-Dutch driver beat out track racer Harrie Lavreysen and skater Thomas Krol to cop his third Sportsman of the Year title, after 2016 and 2021.
Schouten, 30, won three gold medals (in the 3,000m, 5,000m and mass start) and a bronze in skating - in the pursuit - at the Beijing Winter Olympics in February.
She beat two-time Olympic short-track champion Suzanne Schulting and cyclist Annemiek van Vleuten to succeed athlete Sifan Hassan.
