“Harry & Meghan”, the Netflix documentary dedicated to the life of the Duke and Duchess of Sussex, has become the most-watched subscription TV series of the year in the UK.
The first episode, broadcast on 8 December, was seen by 4.5 million people in the week following its release. This is over 1.5 million more than the first episode of the British family series ‘The Crown’, which attracted 2.8 million viewers when its fifth season returned on 9 November.
In the explosive six-part series, the couple reveals intimate details of their encounter, while making accusations of abuse against the royal family and the British press.
King Charles’ son accuses members of the royal family of showing a “huge level of unconscious prejudice” towards Meghan. He said they failed to provide the highest level of protection for his wife because they did not understand the “racial element”. As for Meghan, she claimed that the media wanted to “destroy her”.
The revelations make the documentary one of Netflix’s flagship programmes, breaking all records for views per episode, including the series “Stranger Things” (3.9 million) or “The Bridgerton Chronicle” (3.4 million).
