Angèle and Stromae have been named French-speaking Belgians' favourite celebrities for 2022 by Le Soir mag. The outlet released two top 25 rankings on Tuesday, one for male public figures and another for female celebrities.
Le Soir mag has revealed who French-speaking Belgians' favourite public figures are for 2022. In the first rankings of its kind, the outlet aggregated two top 25 lists, one for female celebrities and one for male celebrities, based on the findings of a survey conducted by Quorum Opinion.
The survey's main winners are both Belgian music sensations, with Angèle and Stromae both finishing top in their respective gender categories. When contacted by Le soir mag, Stromae expressed gratitude for the honour, stating that he and his team were "delighted to find that I have topped the list," which had filled the musical maestro with pride.

Angèle was followed by the world-beating athlete Naffisatou Thiam, while famed Belgian actress Viriginie Efira rounded out the top three female celebrities. The former's podium finish caps off a fantastic year in which she added another heptathlon world championship to her glittering trophy cabinet.
The male top three was completed by actor Benoît Poelvoorde, well known for his role in the film 'Man bites dog,' and Red Devils legend Eden Hazard, who recently announced his retirement from international football.
However, politicians were noticeably absent from both lists, with former Belgian Prime Minister Sophie Wilmès being the only political figure in the top 50. She finished fifth, having been forced to resign as Foreign Affairs Minister after her husband was diagnosed with cancer.
