Over the course of 8 days more than 10,000 works spanning all different styles and periods will be presented by 130 internationally-renowned galleries from 15 countries. Beyond the beauty of the artworks to be discovered in the aisles, BRAFA offers each year a series of conferences ‘BRAFA Art Talks’.
Join in every day at 4 pm (except on Monday 30 January 2023) on the King Baudouin Foundation stand (n°131) for a talk which will be given by an important figure from the art world, from museum curators and art market experts to collectors, who will share their particular knowledge and expertise.
These special events offer a wonderful chance to discover artists, periods, artworks and famous art-world characters, and to learn more about the art market.
On January 29 - Dr. Frederica Van Dam, Curator of Old Masters at the Fine Arts Museum in Gent will present the very first monographic exhibition devoted to the Flemish Caravaggist painter Theodoor Rombouts (1597-1637). Rombouts was an established figure in the Antwerp artistic community. But although his painting was appreciated during his short life, his artistic heritage was soon forgotten after his death.
Curator Dr Frederica Van Dam will shed new light on Rombouts’ artistic personality and discuss the specificities of his work.
