A group of fruit farmers on tractors are travelling to Brussels on Monday morning to protest an "unequal" share of profits from their produce. The protestors will be ending their march outside of the trade federation Comeos, in the municipality of Auderghem.
Fruit producers have been struggling to cope with the various crises that have beset the country, as well as experiencing their own drop in production.
On Monday, they are calling for better prices for their products in front of Comeos' offices, at the initiative of Fruittelers and Cepifruit.
Xavier Laduron, a spokesperson for the protest action, "we want an honest price for an honest product" before adding that "our aim is for the margins to be better shared."

Zuhal Demir, the Flemish Minister for the Environment, is supporting the farmers' protest. She explained in a press release that producers sell a kilogram of fruit at an auction for between €0.3 and €0.35, yet the same product is offered for up to €2.50 in Belgian stores.
Moreover, she urged the Federal Government to ensure that fair trade practices are put in place to protect Belgium's fruit producers.
