Only some 29% of Belgians would vote in favour of Belgium leaving the European Union if they were asked to decide upon the issue. So reveals an Ipsos study, which Le Soir is also publishing today (Monday).
The Belgians clearly take a particularly Europhile stance. Amongst the citizens from the nine countries surveyed, only the Polish (22%) and the Spanish (26%) would vote less in favour of leaving the Union.
Only a minority of Belgians (42%) are asking for a public debate on membership of the European Union.
Half of Belgians surveyed would like Belgian policy to campaign in favour of “more Europe”, as against 47% who currently remain strongly opposed to this.
