The spectacular space of Reset, an abandoned building located in the heart of Brussels, will be transformed into a 1,800 square metres treasure hunt combining immersive experience, virtual reality and fluorescent photography.

The exhibition 'Reset Immersive-Whispering lights', which will first take place on Wednesday 22 February, will give viewers an exclusive chance to see digital works, many of which will be on display in Belgium for the first time, accompanied by an ambient soundtrack with various sound effects, including animal sounds.

"This is an opportunity to highlight technology in culture," said Fabian Maingain, Brussels "Smart City" councillor. "It is extremely important to bring this new art form forward. One that uses technology to pose another facet of culture, one that questions our thoughts as citizens." The setting and the works invite people to contemplate, wonder and reflect.

The labyrinth-like tour, advertised as a "trip to a forgotten place," displays several polymorphic works by the artist Laetitia Bica, who uses an electron microscope to photograph plants that have been brought to Wallonia from southern Europe via people who moved here, particularly Italians, in fluorescent images.

The exhibition also showcases videos by Brussels-based artist Antoine De Schuyter. These are projected in a long corridor and in a separate room dedicated to his work, which sees real shots that are distorted afterwards.

Finally, there are two sections where participants are given virtual reality headsets to explore the animated works of Bica and the graduation film of Marc Zimmerman, a German animation artist. "We believe it is important to see that even graduation films are made in virtual reality," said Marine Haverland, virtual reality expert and organiser of the exhibition.

The exhibition will run from 22 February to 14 May 2023 at Reset Brussels, Rue de la Banque 7, 1000 Brussels. from Wednesday to Friday, it will open from  15:00 to 22:00 and on Saturday and Sunday, it will run from noon until 19:00. Find more information here.
