Police trade unions have announced they will be striking at the Eurostar terminal in the Brussels-Midi station on Friday morning, which should lead to travel delays according to Belga News Agency.
The socialist union ACOD announced that striking staff will gather at the terminal's border control at around 06:30am to draw attention to staff shortages. Eddie Quaino, a spokesperson for the union, explained that both Annelies Verlinden and Vincent Van Quickenborne, the Interior and Justice Ministers respectively, have ignored calls for improved police staff numbers.
Trade unions issued a strike notice for the whole month of March, with police also set to strike next Monday at the Tihange power plant, as well as next Thursday at Charleroi Airport. The airport strike will see them accompanied by customs officers, with Quaino stating that airport police currently need 30 additional officers.
