The second edition of the feminist music festival “Les Équinoxes” will be held on April 8 at the Tricoterie, in the Brussels commune of Saint-Gilles, the organising team announced on Tuesday in a statement.
The festival’s line-up will consist of at least 50% of women and people from sexual and gender minorities, highlighting the talent of Belgian women of different ethnic origins, sexual orientations and socio-cultural backgrounds, the statement said.
Among the expected artists are Rori, MoHa, Sarina, Mervie, MHO or L4U.
“In 2022, 78% of the artists programmed in the 13 biggest festivals in the Wallonia-Brussels Federation were men,” according to figures from the Scivias platform reported by the Équinoxes team. The festival’s inclusive programme has been developed to denounce this imbalance and reverse the trend in 2023.
“In a desire to integrate and welcome everyone, we are keen to make the festival accessible to people with disabilities, both within the audience and on stage. We have been careful in the choice of artists to offer a place to racialised people and to allow a diversity of ages, identities and gender expressions”, says Coline Renard, coordinator of the event.

Alongside the concerts, animations such as "cyclodance, drag show, stand-up, slam poetry…" are also planned, as well as tattoo stands, creative workshops and games for children.
The event will take place on April 8 from noon at the Tricoterie. To ensure that everyone can access the festival, the organising team has chosen the free and conscious price formula.
