The search for 23-year-old Valentin Footman, from Incourt in Walloon Brabant, resumed on Tuesday. The young man disappeared on Friday night during a party at the 'Kompass Klub' nightclub in Ghent.
Boats equipped with sonar and teams of divers have been deployed in the search for the young man, as he may have fallen into the water.
The federal police issued a missing-person's notice on Monday. “Valentin is 1m79 tall and of normal build. He has long brown hair with blond highlights. He has a beard, a moustache and glasses. At the time of his disappearance, he was wearing dark brown trousers, a beige Nike hoodie, a cap and Nike Air Max trainers.”
On Monday morning, dozens of police officers searched the banks of the Nieuwe Dokken while a helicopter flew over the area where the young man disappeared. Three boats equipped with sonar and two teams of divers were also deployed on Tuesday, but the search has remained unsuccessful so far.
