More than 10,300 robots have been installed in Belgium, which ranks 15th internationally in terms of robot density, technology federation Agoria said on Tuesday, referring to figures from the International Federation of Robotics (IFR).
“This is largely due to the presence of the automotive industry and its suppliers and subcontractors in Belgium,” Agoria manufacturing manager Ben Van Roose explained.
According to Agoria and PwC, a survey of 120 firms showed that 7 out of 10 production companies are using robotisation or related applications. Agoria notes, however, that 4 out of 10 SMEs do not use robotisation or lack basic knowledge of it.
Distrust of robotisation seems to be decreasing as 45% of the companies surveyed by Agoria say that their employees have a positive attitude towards it and 75% describe the impact of robotisation on employment as non-existent or even positive.
