Brussels museums will open their doors on the evening of Tuesday 13 April as part of the first day of the annual Nocturnes event, starting with a vernissage along the Canal.
Every Thursday, six museums will be exceptionally open to the public from 17:00 to 22:00, until 18 May. Nocturnes will be co-organised by the Brussels municipalities so participants can combine visits to several places on the same night. Guided walks will also be offered between the museums.
"During the Nocturnes, you’ll get the opportunity to discover the exhibitions and collections of 37 exceptional places in the capital through guided tours, artistic workshops and backstage visits," organisers said.
The season will start with a vernissage along the Canal on 13 April at 17:00. A bike tour will explore the museums in the area, and MIMA will host a bar and concert in its courtyard.
Nocturnes will also be organised under the new initiative of the Brussels-Capital Region, which has decided to put Art Nouveau into the spotlight for 2023. Each week, a visit to an Art Nouveau house or an exhibition will be organised.
For a single price of €5 per entry or €2.5 for under-26s, visitors will be able to enjoy a wide variety of guided tours, exhibitions, art workshops, or private access to certain reserves.

On other days, visitors will be able to discover new cuisines in the Paul Moens medicinal plant garden, admire the huge collection of earthenware clocks in the Clockarium or attend a reading of erotic poems at the MEM.
Some events will also be an opportunity to immerse oneself in the daily life of the artists, by listening to a musical setting of the poet’s works at the Maurice Carême Museum, or by making a basket at the FelixArt museum.
After six evenings and the participation of 37 institutions, the Nocturnes will close on 18 May, which marks International Museum Day.
