The traffic coming through the port of Brussels increased by 9.7% in the first six months. This was indicated by the port in a communiqué on Friday. The port of Brussels stresses, “The increases include Belgian traffic in the port (up by 6.3%) and transit traffic (up 17.2%), with a significant net recovery in transit, which has registered decreases in recent years.”
With a total 1.2 million tonnes transshipped, the share of construction materials is still increasing, and is comfortably ahead of other categories of products transported by water (up by 6%). Oil products are in second position (575,000 tonnes, down 7%). With a 40% increase, container transport takes a clear third position in Brussels.
