The 18th edition of the Brussels Marathon will take place on 1 October, organisers announced on Wednesday.
The 2022 starting place, the Atomium has been replaced by the Place de Brouckère for this edition of the race, giving participants the opportunity to make a detour to the Grand-Place to collect their participation package.
“The Grand-Place is the emblematic square of Brussels par excellence and is famous throughout the world. It had to be at the rendezvous of the great international running festival that the Brussels Airport Marathon & Half Marathon has become over the years,” said Thomas Huyberechts of organiser Golazo Sports.
While the full course will be announced “shortly,” the finish will still be at the King Baudouin Stadium after a passage through the Atomium before reaching the stadium via the Avenue de Marathon. In addition to the marathon, there will also be a half-marathon, a 10km race and a one-kilometre children’s race.
In 2022, Kenya’s Dominic Mibei won in the men’s race while Belgium's Tahnee Daman and Veerle Dhaese shared victory in the women’s race.
Registrations will be open from 11 a.m. on Thursday, 13 April.
