A 24-year-old 'monitor,' a person in charge of school groups during outings, died after falling 10 metres from a zipline – known as a 'Death Ride' in Flemish.

The young person became disconnected from the zipline, which involves being attached to a steel cable and riding it between two points, usually located higher up, with the route overlooking beautiful scenery or impressive landscapes. The man fell from a height of 10 metres.

The incident took place at the experience site Transfo in Zwevegem in West Flanders, on Wednesday evening, the Public Prosecutor’s Office told Belga News Agency. The location is an old power station, where a lot of adventure activities take place, and is a popular outing for school children.
