Belgium's King Philip and Queen Matilda attend King Charles III coronation ceremony

About half an hour before the start of the coronation ceremony for King Charles III, Belgium’s King Philip and Queen Matilda arrived at Westminster Abbey.

The doors of Westminster Abbey were opened early on Saturday to welcome guests. Among them were European Council President Charles Michel and Commission President Ursula von der Leyen who also made the trip, as did French President Emmanuel Macron and his wife.

Several former British prime ministers, including Boris Johnson, Liz Truss, Theresa May and Tony Blair, also made their entrance, followed a little later by current British Prime Minister Rishi Sunak and his wife.

The first lady of the United States Jill Biden was accompanied by her granddaughter. She was seated in the abbey next to Olena Zelenska, the First Lady of Ukraine. Joe Biden and Volodymyr Zelensky did not attend.
