The top flight of female football in Belgium, the Women's Super League, will now be run by the Pro League. The Belgian professional football body will take over from the Royal Belgian Football Association (RBFA).
The change will come into effect at the beginning of next season, as was decided on Monday, with ten teams set to compete to be crowned league champions. Lorin Parys (CEO of the Pro League who also runs the Jupiler Pro League) applauded the change, noting that it will "inspire thousands of young girls every week to put on their boots."

Meanwhile, the RBFA hopes that the partnership will help develop Belgian women’s football, with the body's interim CEO Manu Leroy revealing that "only 10% of footballers in Belgium are women," – a figure he says must be improved on.
Parys meanwhile expects the partnership to "bring a bigger and more qualitative pool for the Red Flames," Belgium's national female side.
