Royal Antwerp FC will wear for their final four games of the season a retro shirt in tribute to the 30th anniversary of the 1993 Cup Winner's Cup final at Wembley Stadium, the club announced on Friday.

“This limited edition '30 years since Wembley' jersey is a tribute to one of the most beautiful days in our club’s history,” the club wrote.

On 12 May 1993, Antwerp played the only European final in its history, in the Cup Winner's Cup Final at the legendary Wembley Stadium.

Antwerp went on to lose the game 3-1 to Italian side Parma.

In front of more than 37,000 spectators, the Antwerp team led by Walter Meeuws was the last appearance of a Belgian club in a European competition final.

Parma fielded George Grün in central defence, a Belgian international with 77 caps, who reached the Cup Winner's Cup final three times: Anderlecht in 1990 (losing to Sampdoria) and then twice with Parma, first in 1993 against Antwerp and for a second time in 1994 against Arsenal, but this time he was on the losing side.

"From Sunday onwards, our Reds will be wearing this unique jersey for the upcoming play-off matches." On Sunday, the Jupiler Pro League leaders will host defending champions Club Brugge in the third round of the Champions’ play-offs.
