They call it the Exotische Markt, the Exotic Market. It is held every Saturday from 8 am to 4 pm under the huge glass canopy on Antwerp’s Theaterplein.
The stallholders sell fruit grown in Limburg, white pudding from Liège and smoked eel caught in Dutch waters, as well as exotic street food and spices from North Africa, Asia and Turkey.
You can also buy flowers, houseware and clothes. Or you can just meet up with friends next to the mini lighthouse for a helping of handmade shrimp croquettes and a glass of white wine.
