Many De Lijn buses have been cancelled on Wednesday as drivers stopped working in several depots following a case of aggression against a colleague. Management and unions are currently in consultation, De Lijn reported.
A serious case of physical aggression happened on line 417, the Antwerp-Turnhout express service, on Tuesday morning. A De Lijn driver was reportedly hit and there was also damage to the vehicle. The incident took place near the Rooseveltplaats in the heart of Antwerp. The perpetrators then fled the scene.
De Lijn says that the driver was badly affected and was admitted to hospital for a check-up. Several of his colleagues subsequently stopped working in the Turnhout, Oostmalle and Mol regions on Wednesday.
