The lifeless body of a baby was found in a car parked at the Saint-Joseph hospital in the city of Charleroi (in the province of Hainaut) on Wednesday, the city's Public Prosecutor's Office announced on Thursday.
Not much is known yet, but an employee of the hospital allegedly forgot her baby in the car, according to French-language media.
For now, the Charleroi Public Prosecutor's Office can only confirm that a baby died in a car parked in front of the hospital on Wednesday. Emergency services were immediately called to the scene, but they could only confirm the death, VRT reports.
An investigation has been opened. The authorities will give more information at a press conference later on Thursday.
