The Belgian interior architect and antique dealer Axel Vervoordt creates stunning minimalist interiors that merge sober architecture with unique objects. His clients include Calvin Klein, Bill Gates and Robert De Niro. You may not be able to afford his services, but you can discover his interior world in a remarkable industrial site just outside Antwerp.
Vervoordt spent 15 years on an ambitious project to convert an abandoned industrial complex including nine grain silos on the Albert Canal in Wijnegem. It includes a former former distillery and a row of concrete grain silos. The complex named Kanaal includes an art centre, luxury apartments, offices and a bakery.
On some Saturdays, you can visit contemporary art exhibitions organised by Vervoordt inside the complex. Check online for details.
