A house in the Brussels municipality of Molenbeek-Saint-Jean was twice the target of gunfire this weekend, the Brussels public prosecutor’s office announced on Tuesday.
The property was shot at in the early hours of Saturday and then again in the early hours of Sunday. No injuries have been reported. Police have launched an investigation into the incidents.
“The police were called on Friday evening around 22:20 for suspicious activities in rue Saint-Martin in Molenbeek-Saint-Jean,” explained the prosecutor’s office. “At 01:38, the police were again called to the scene because shots had been fired at a house. On Saturday at 01:10 they were called again because shots had been fired again at the same building.”

According to La Dernière Heure, the perpetrators were travelling on a scooter. Opening fire on Saturday morning, the criminal’s weapons allegedly jammed after a few shots.
It is believed that the house next door to that which was hit was the intended target and questions have been raised whether the incident is related to a dispute between two families. The house which was riddled with bullets in fact belongs to an elderly couple.
