Brussels Philharmonic will be surprising public transport travellers with a live summer symphony later this month.

It's no secret that Brussels public transport operator STIB is a big fan of music, having showcased Belgian artist Stromae's comeback album on vehicles last year. Coldplay's latest songs were also played in both metros and stations while the band was performing in the Belgian capital.

On Wednesday 21 June, commuters will be treated to a very different musical experience, as a number of musicians from the renowned Brussels Philharmonic will be boarding trams and metros to Rogier with their instruments at hand to play their fellow travellers a tune.

All musicians will then gather in the station's ticket office hall to perform a free concert at 16:00. The musical group's aim is to open up the symphonic world to the general public as much as possible.

This is not the first time the Rogier station has provided a stage for a classical concert. In 2015, the Orchestre Royal de Chambre de Wallonie performed there.
