Studio 100 announces record results

Studio 100, the multi-media entertainment company run by TV star Gert Verhulst and business partner Hans Bourlon, has announced record results for the year 2018. Verhulst recently announced he would no longer be appearing in the TV show which made his name, Samson & Gert, but behind the scenes his company was doing better than ever.
Studio 100 makes TV programmes mainly for young children, while at the same time being involved in theatre productions, concerts with the likes of girl group K3 (photo), and theme parks like Plopsaland.

The company recorded income of 179.7 million euros in 2018, 2% more than in 2017, thanks to success of the wartime musical 40-45 and visitor figures for its seven theme parks in Belgium, the Netherlands, Germany and Poland. The company's ebitda went up slightly from 68.3 million euros in 2017 to 68.7 million in 2018.

Forecasts for the current financial year put projected earnings at over 200 million euros.
In 2017 Studio 100 took over an animation studio in New York, Little Airplane Productions, to ass to its activities in France with Studio 100 Animations. In Belgium, the company's productions are a fixture on the children's TV channel Ketnet, with a stable of shows including Piet Piraat, Maya de Bij and Kabouter Plop.

Studio 100 also owns Flying Bark production company in Australia, which is producing a new series of Teenage Mutant Ninja Turtles for Nickelodeon in the US, as well as a third film featuring Maya the Bee. Flying Bark will also bring out a TV series and film featuring a new character, 100% Wolf.
